Beclic Exits Russia

French Internet betting firm Betclic has announced that it will be pulling out of the Russian gaming market, following Betfair's example of abandoning the country after threats from Russian prosecutors.

The announcement of the pull out was revealed through the group's affiliate program, as it emailed marketers to tell them that it will stop accepting new Russian marketers. Existing Russian punters will be able to continue playing, at least for the time being.

Recently, Russian prosecutors have begun blocking offshore online betting websites, and threatened to blacklist any offending sites.

The company has not commented on the move, but Casino Listings will update this story as more developments arise.
