A UK woman from Leeds was given a 20 month suspended prison sentence after she stole money from her father's business in order to gamble online.
Ginnie Cassells plead guilty to stealing £28,000 from her father's business and bank accounts. Cassells nearly bankrupted the company through her theft, using the funds to gamble online.
The crimes were discovered in December of 2012 when her father's bank called to verify discrepancies on his account. After she was outed, Cassells confessed.
Handing down the sentence Court Recorder Gregory Perkins said, “It is difficult to imagine a more complete betrayal of trust than that which you inflicted on your father.”
The defendant was given a suspended sentence, allowing her to attend treatment for her gambling addiction.
