Football governing body the UK Football Association has announced that it is considering barring players and club staff members after a player admitted to placing bets on matches.
Earlier this week Dan Gosling of Newcastle United Football Club admitted to betting on matches, which poses ethical questions as it raises the possibility of match fixing.
There are currently some betting restrictions with English clubs, but no bans for all players and staff. Current laws keep players from simply betting on matches their clubs or themselves.
FA Chairman Greg Dyke spoke out on the issue, noting: "The FA is looking again at the whole of betting and who should be allowed to bet on football in the football industry. In the next few weeks, we'll come out with a policy."
