Illinois To Address Land Gambling Before Online Betting

A prominent Illinois Senator spoke to a television station in his state this week, saying that politicians in the Land of Lincoln will address land gambling expansion before looking into online betting.

Speaking to the television station Senator John Cullerton said the following about online gambling: “It’s something that’s going to be here. There’s three states that have it. I think, though, that we cannot take that issue up until we resolve whether or not we’re going to have new [land] casinos in Illinois and that again is very difficult to predict.”

Land gambling in Illinois has been a contentious issue in the past, with horse racing and land casino groups squabbling over casinos in the state. Online gambling has been teased for some time, but always seems to find its way to the back burner.
