Police in the Philippines have announced that they have arrested 10 South Korean citizens who it accuses of operating an illegal online betting ring in Manilla.
The raid was announced by Senior Police Superintendent Gilbert Sosa, who said that 8 South Korean men an 2 women were arrested in a luxury apartment complex in Manilla. The group is suspected of working a similar online betting scheme in South Korea, and fled to the Philippines after police began to crack down on similar rings. Two of the suspects are fugitives in their native country.
The group allegedly used the Manilla site to receive money from South Korean punters, processing banking and credit card payments on site.
In addition to the arrests, police seized computers, networking devices, ID cards, and telephones.
