Police in Malaysia have announced that they have conducted three online gambling related raids, arresting 48 people connected to the illegal rings.
The raids too place in the Sarwak Province's city of Miri o New Year's Eve, and saw 19 workers and 29 customers arrested. Those arrested ranged in age from 14 to 42. They will remain in custody for four days pending the result of the investigation.
The arrest was the largest of 2013 according to Mir Police Spokesman ACP Mun Kock Keong, who said: “We are committed to crippling such activities, and those errant people who intend to set up such businesses within commercial buildings or houses will face the music."
The raids resulted in the seizure of 312 computers, RM11,367 in cash, and 23 modems.
