Internet poker professional Justin "Boosted" Smith has been sentenced to two years probation, three months home confinement, 20 hours of community service, and must pay a $500,000 fine after he plead guilty to his role in a celebrity poker ring, which has ensnared dozens of big names.
Smith plead guilty to a single count of being involved in an illegal gambling enterprise after striking a plea deal with the US government, which originally charged him with two other counts.
The defendant only held a minor role in the poker ring, which organized high stakes games that featured several celebrities and other well known people. The court alleged that Smith moved large amounts of money.
More than 30 people have been connected to the crime ring, which is believed to have generated millions of dollars in revenues through various online and live poker games, as well as various sportsbetting events.
