A 59 year old Oklahoma man was sentenced to 27 months in federal prison and given 2 years of supervised release after he plead guilty to running an illegal online betting operation that generated more than $8 million in revenues.
Teddy Mitchell was given the sentence after he plead guilty to all charges levied against him last july. The US government contends that Mitchell organized poker games from his home and also used a Costa Rican website to place illegal bets.
Mitchell was one of nine other defendants in the case. He will additionally forfeit $1 million in cash and property.
The defendant is scheduled to head to prison next month.
