Online poker in New Jersey is gaining popularity, as more and more players are frequenting the casino related rooms since the legal launch of the game back in November.
Internet poker traffic monitor PokerScout reported that the Borgata-PartyPoker room gained, with peak traffic of 640 players, while Caesars Entertainment/888 branded room WSOP.com had 350 peak players.
The news is not all good though, as Trump aligned UltimatePoker.com only saw peak players of 44 -- a dismal result that could be a bad omen for the Nevada based poker room.
The results show that the New Jersey based rooms are competitive with some lower end offshore poker rooms. As an example, the Merge Poker Network brings in 767 players, while the Chico Network brought in just 529 players during the same period. While the numbers are encouraging, Atlantic City poker rooms still have a long way to go to catch up to market leaders such as PokerStars, who holds a peak number of 40,281.
