Online gambling in New Jersey appears to be growing at a steady pace, as the state's Division of Gambling Enforcement reported on Monday that nearly 110,000 online gambling accounts have been registered.
The numbers as of December 23rd indicate that 109,946 accounts have been registered, and will eclipse 110,000 by Christmas Eve.
The number shows a healthy amount of players set up to play, but doesn't necessarily serve as an indicator of actual gameplay, as some punters have registered more than one account. Additionally, no numbers on amounts wagered have been made public yet.
Commenting on the account registrations New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement Director David Rebuck said, “We have seen a steady and continual increase in site traffic since November 21 due to the outreach of the casino operators. We are encouraged by their marketing efforts and are optimistic for the future of New Jersey’s internet gaming industry."
