New Jersey's internet gambling industry went live on Thursday, beginning a five day test period during which time the casinos will iron out any potential glitches that may arise.
The betting websites opened their doors to select customers at 6PM and operated through 2AM. The casino will operate with those hours Thursday and Friday, and expand their hours for Saturday before opening 24 hours per day for good on Sunday.
Currently 13 different betting websites are live, with casinos such as Bally's, Borgata, Caesars, Taj Mahal, and Trump Plaza all putting casino and poker sites on the grid.
One notable casino left off the list was the Golden Nugget, which was cleared to begin offering betting services after initially not being given the go-ahead by the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement.
After the first round of play wrapped up, only slight errors were reported throughout the state. The most wide-spread error reported was the occasional player being locked out geographically by software that is tasked with making sure that players are physically located in the Garden State while betting. This is due to many of the firms pulling in their boundaries a bit in order to ensure compliance with the law.
Sites that are currently offering online betting during the soft launch are:
Caesars Entertainment - 888
Caesars Entertainment - Amaya Gaming
Tropicana - Gamesys
Trump Plaza - Betfair
Trump Taj Mahal - Ultimate Gaming
