Swedish internet betting firm Unibet has survived a legal challenge by the Swedish Gambling Board and will be allowed to sponsor the Stockholm Open tennis tournament this weekend.
The challenge came about because the Swedish Gambling Board thought the sponsorship was a form of illegal advertising, and was rejected because of a lack of regulatory support for the claims being made by the board.
The tennis tournament is the largest in Sweden, and is played annually in Stockholm. Competitors taking part in the Stockholm Open this year include Jerzy Janowicz, David Ferrer, and Griror Dimitrov.
Unibet's sponsorship of the Stockholm Open will allow the group to offer live streaming of the matches on its website, as well as ticket promotions and other marketing opportunities.
