Two men were sentenced this week in different cases for their parts in operating illegal online sportsbetting websites.

In the first case, US District Judge Vanessa Bryant sentenced Domenico Manchisi to six months in jail for his participation in running an illegal sports book through Costa Rican site 44wager.com.

Prosecutors allege that Manchisi picked up cash in New Haven, Connecticut and delivered it to another location in Stamford. Manchisi is one of nineteen defendants in the case.

In a separate case, US District Court Judge S. Maurice Hicks Jr. sentenced Terry Lee Doty Jr. (34) to three years probation and a $50,000 fine for operating an illegal online sportsbook in Louisiana.

Doty plead guilty in April to illegal transmission of online sports wagering information, which is a felony in the United States.

The defendant worked as the illegal site's administrator and had roughly 280 clients when he was arrested.
