A Hawaiian man was sentenced to eight months in jail this week by a US Federal Judge for his role in running an illegal online betting website.

45 year old Eric Ford was handed the sentence by US District Court Judge Leslie Kobayashi after Ford plead guilty to running an illegal gambling business, a federal felony. Ford also admitted that he masked financial transactions to hide the gambling activity.

In addition to the jail time, Ford has forfeited $130,000 in cash, a car, and a Rolex.

Federal prosecutors say that Ford and seven others were involved in running the gambling ring out of a water company in Kailuna-Kona. The other seven defendants have also plead guilty in the case.
