The Swiss Federal Gaming Board has released a series of recommendations to help the struggling gambling market in the country, noting that online gambling should be legalized and strictly regulated.
The change in attitude by the government is due in part to the Swiss land casino market. All of the country's casinos saw a drop in revenue last year, with the collective market showing an 8% decrease in revenue, bringing in just $800 million.
Online betting is currently illegal inside of Switzerland, although the act is rarely enforced by the country's officials.
Switzerland's Justice Department is reportedly in talks with the country's provinces in order to negotiate a law that would open the online gambling market to its 7.9 million citizens.
