A 26 year old UK man was sentenced to two years in prison for stealing money from his friend and employer in order to feed his online gambling habit.

Thomas Masters, 26, was sentenced to the prison term by The Nottingham Crown Court. The man's addiction caused his family to take out loans to help his precarious financial position, but it simply wasn't enough to keep him out of trouble.

Desperate for funds, Masters staged burglaries to steal items from his friend and employer to try to get more money for his habit.

During his sentencing hearing, Court Recorder Tina Landale told Masters, "You set about two very separate mean offences, knowing the devastation caused by the first burglary, you callously committed a second."

Masters has been reportedly attending Gamblers Anonymous and is fully aware of the damage his crimes have caused, his lawyer said.
