Police in Dubai have announced that sixteen men were arrested and sentenced to jail time for their role in operating an illegal gambling ring inside of a electronic games store located in Jumeriah Beach.

The sentences were handed down by the Dubai Court of First Instance and included three month jail terms for twelve men as well as one year in prison for the other four men.

Thirteen of the defendants are not citizens of the United Arab Emirates and will be deported after their sentences are served.

The raid was conducted after an informant let the police know that illegal betting machines were in place. An undercover policeman went in to verify these claims and ended up wining almost $500, 5% of which was taken as a commission by the betting scheme.
