Australian internet sports betting firm Sportsbet has announced that it has painted over an ad that it put up on a field near an airport which featured what many considered to be inappropriate.

The offending ad was a 90m x 170m field painting that showcased the country's rugby team "The Wallabies", mounting England's "Lions" on the approach to the Melbourne Airport. . The advert caught a lot of scrutiny from the Victorian government , who threatened the firm with legal action if the ad was not removed.

At the time Matthew Guy, the Victorian Provincial Planning Minister said, "At the end of the day I don't expect international visitors to see that image when they're coming into this city, and I'd expect it to be removed as soon as possible. If they don't expect that, or don't want it to be the case, then we'll take court action. I want it removed. It's not appropriate."

Sportsbet has announced that it will cost roughly A$20,000 to paint over the field.
