Internet Gambling Does Not Make It Through Illinois Legislature

This story was published more than 11 years ago.

Internet gambling will not be legalized in the state of Illinois this year, as a measure to legalize the act did not get adopted before the end of the state's legislative session.

The bill was never formally introduced, as a lack of interest and other priorities such as pension fund overhaul ended up taking priority over online betting. Now that the session is over, it is unlikely that such a measure will be passed this year.

As the old saying goes: "Well, there is always next year."
