Land based gambling billionaire Sheldon Adelson has launched a website dedicated to stopping internet gambling legalization within the United States.
The site, whose domain is StopInternetGambling.com is simple in design and calls for players to "get educated" about the dangers of online betting. Among the drags against online gambling is that sites often brand their games on comic book characters or movies... a dubious charge as Adelson's own casinos feature similar type games.
The site's main page reads: "Click your mouse and lose your house" isn't a marketing slogan for internet gambling advocates. But it should be. Over the past year, the States of Nevada, New Jersey and Delaware have passed laws legalizing internet gambling, and other states, like Pennsylvania and California, as well as Congress are now considering proposals to allow internet poker, blackjack, slots and other games. In the history of bad ideas, this has to be one of the worst! And public polling suggests that voters all across America are overwhelmingly against it."
The site also features a YouTube video that spells out the various dangers of internet betting. That video can be viewed at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lan7yhpqIIo&feature=player_embedded
It is unknown what, if any impact Adelson's stance against online betting will have in the United States. Several states are considering internet betting legislation, while the states of Nevada, New Jersey, and Delaware have all passed some form of internet betting law.

Jesus, after looking at Adelson's site I feel that online gambling is one step removed from being as bad as shooting heroin...
Seriously, this guy is a clown. His stances against the "bad parts" of online gambling completely contradict what his casinos do (the same types of games, aggressive marketing).
The only thing that scares me with this is that there are so many ignorant people out there that they could possibly be swayed by mis-information like this.
There's a US senator who has been using the "click your mouse and lose your house" line in his anti-gambling campaign for years now. What's his name again? .... search ... Spencer Bachus.
Adelson's hypocrisy is breathtaking but what it does show at least is that he is scared.
