A UK woman was in the Ayreshire Sheriff's Court this week after admitting to stealing roughly £120,000 from her uncle in order to play online bingo.
Karen Moore appeared before the court to stand charges for the theft. She had originally been given access to her uncle Francisco's bank account when he entered a care facility.
After stealing the money, the defendant tried to pay back some of the money back into her uncle's account, but sadly the £52,250 was not enough to cover the damages. Her unce eventually went into hock to his care facility for more than £10,000 due to the theft.
While arguing their case in front of the court, Moore's attorneys admitted to the theft, but noted that the accused still owed £50,000 to cover the stolen funds.
The official in the case Sheriff Desmond Leslie did find Moore guilty of her admitted crimes, but opted to delay her sentence until he has more time to review the specifics in the case.

wow this is beyond sad! if people cant afford to play and loose they shouldnt be playing.....let alone if they have to steal and hurt others for it 😢
It is sad. I also find it amazing at the amount that people are willing to steal to feed their problem habits. Shocking.

Oh, dear. This kind of thing gives gambling a VERY bad name. Control people, control! 😢
