U.S. based land gambling giant Caesars Entertainment has officially begun the application process to obtain a New Jersey internet gambling license, this according to a company spokesman

Speaking to the Press of Atlantic City publication, Caesars Company Spokesman Seth Palansky has started the application process, noting that, “It’s the first of I’m sure many hurdles to cross.”

The land based gambling giant also said that it will not be solely focusing on internet poker, pointing out that Caesars already offers similar products to punters based in the U.K.

“We’re offering a whole suite of games in the U.K.,” he said. “We anticipate having everything available (for New Jersey).”

Caesars famously acquired the World Series of Poker brand, and it is anticipated that the company would deliver such a product to players in the Garden State.

Palansky went on to talk about the challenges of building an online poker base, noting that, "Poker requires liquidity. You need to get a lot of players playing.”

With four Atlantic City betting properties, Caesars Entertainment stands an excellent chance of being awarded a gaming license. Current holdings that the firm has in Atlantic City include: Harrah’s Resort, Showboat Casino Hotel, Bally’s Atlantic City and Caesars Atlantic City.
