Jennifer Carroll resigned this week amid the scandal, which has seen an internet gambling cafe working under a non profit fundraising organization. The PR firm is one that Carroll owned, and has been linked to that cafe.
Carroll is a former Navy Officer and was once the Sunshine State's Executive Director at the Department of Veterans Affairs. As Lieutenant Governor she was the highest ranking woman in the state's government.
Commenting on the resignation Rick Scott's Chief of Staff Adam Hollingsworth said that Carroll resigned "in an effort to keep her former affiliations with the company from distracting from the administration's important work on behalf of Florida families. She made the right decision for the state and her family."
