Internet betting giant 888 Holdings has been awarded an internet gaming license by the state of Nevada, allowing the European firm to begin offering intrastate online poker services later this year.

The license was awarded after the Nevada Gaming Commission unanimously approved the application. In being awarded the license 888 Holdings becomes the 20th gaming firm to be granted such a license.

With its license, 888 is now free to expand its relationship with Caesars Entertainment, with whom the firm plans on launching a Nevada online poker network.

Commenting on its license award 888 CEO Brian Mattingley said: “888 has chosen Nevada as its first U.S. market. We are hopeful that future developments will present even greater commercial opportunities for 888’s Nevada-facing business.”
