PokerStars Applies To Buy Atlantic City Casino

Internet poker giant Rational Group, who owns industry leading sites PokerStars and Full Tilt Poker has applied to purchase the Atlantic Club Casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

The application was submitted to New Jersey does not spell out specific details of any potential deal, but does state that Rational would seek to improve the casino if the sale goes through.

The move by Rational Group to acquire a casino in New Jersey is likely due to a recent bill that passed both houses of the State's Congress which would allow that online gambling services to be provided intrastate... provided the operator's servers are hosted in an Atlantic City Casino.

The Rational Group is legally allowed to make the application after it settled its legal cases with the United States government by paying $371 million and acquiring rival poker firm Full Tilt Poker.
