Manitoba Launches Play Now Betting Site

The Canadian province of Manitoba has announced that it has launched a legal betting site which carries the PlayNow branding that is also being used by fellow province British Columbia.

The Manitoba site will offer betting games to citizens of the province only, but internet poker will be able to be played against Canadian citizens in other provinces.

The site's launch comes after the Manitoba Lottery learned that regulated online betting would be a potential solution to keep revenue in the province. It is estimated that Manitobans spend $37 million each year on illegal offshore betting sites.

PlayNow originally was launched by the British Columbian government and was licensed to Manitoba as part of a partnership between the two bodies.
