Police in Malaysia conducted another series of raids in the city of Mentakab, resulting in the closure of three more online gambling centers.
The raid was led by Assistant Superintendent Shaharudin Abdul Wahab, and was the result of a tip. Three members of the gambling rings and twelve customers were detained in the raids along with 38 computers, 3 modems, and RM 614 in cash.
Since September 1st 43 raids have been conducted in Malaysia, resulting in the arrests of 196 customers, 44 betting managers, and the seizure of 626 computers. RM10,025 in cash has also been confiscated in those same raids.
OCPD Superintendent Zundin Mahmood spoke about the raids, saying: “We believe the outlets were operating as gambling dens under the guise of cyber cafes."
