A new cyberlaw signed by United Arab Emirates President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan spells out the harsh punishments in store for those involved with internet gambling within the borders of the Emirates.

The law grants permission to authorities to shut down websites, seize devices, software or any other items used to commit the cyber crimes contained in the law. Foreigners who commit the cyber crimes will be deported from the country after they complete their prison sentence.

The law states that the punishment for violating the law will be "imprisonment of anyone who sets up or runs an electronic site to send, transmit, publish or promote online any pornographic material, gambling activities and any other indecent acts".
