Internet gaming giants Microgaming and PokerStars have announced that they have struck a deal with London's Hippodrome Casino to create an online presence for the new land based destination.
A statement from Hippodrome revealed that the firms will work to develop an online gaming site and augment the casino's new live poker offering.
As part of the deal, Hippodrome will host a series of PokerStars sponsored poker tournaments beginning in 2013. PokerStars also has become a minor stakeholder in the land based casino.
Speaking through a statement, Hippodrome Casino Founder and Chairman Simon Thomas said: “We are delighted to welcome PokerStars and Microgaming into the Hippodrome Casino family. They bring unrivalled online profile and expertise that will allow us to harness the true potential of a bricks-and-mortar venue and its online presence.”
PokerStars Group Strategy Director Guy Templar also commented on the deal, saying: “The Hippodrome has dramatically raised the quality bar for the UK casino industry."
“Together we will give poker players the same great poker experience, live 24/7 in the heart of London that they get from PokerStars online. We are looking forward to unveiling some great new live events for the UK poker market in 2013.”
