Patrick Partouche has come out to say that the Partouche Poker Tour will indeed honor its €5 million Guarantee, but that the current tournament will indeed be its last.
Partouche came out to defend his no guarantee position but claimed there has been a lot of "erroneous information" and confusion about the size of the tournament's prize pool. The news that the guarantee was going away drew the ire from media and players, causing a PR debacle for the poker firm.
Partouche Poker Tour Marketing Director JJ Ichai tendered his resignation over the issue, but Partouche announced that Ichai will remain with the company, saying that: "he has never turned his back on his troops and that anyone who doesn’t make mistakes isn’t trying hard enough.”
The firm will also cover the €730,000 overlay to bring the total prize pool back to the original €5 million.
