Internet betting firm Betsson AB has announced that it is participating in a problem gambling study along with Spelinstitutet.
The purpose of the study is to evaluate and develop and enhance an online self help program for punters with gambling problems. The program is scheduled to start in September and will initially be offered through Betsson subsidiary Betsafe in Denmark, Norway, Finland, and Sweden.
Clients participating in the program will be given an assessment of their gambling behavior based on the information they provided. After the study is completed, the information will be made available to gambling researchers beginning next year. Betsson also intends to offer the tool across all of its brands and subsidiaries.
Commenting on the study Betsson CEO Magnus Silfverberg said: ”Betsson intends to further strengthen and intensify its efforts within responsible gaming. Our support to research and continuous development of responsible gaming tools is therefore an important part of our business plan."
“We are primarily interested in contributing to the development of preventive tools that would prevent or limit the harmful effects of gambling. This is why we see an excellent fit between the online self-help tool developed by Spelinstitutet and Betsson’s plan for responsible gaming development."
