Swedish Poker Pro Arrested

A Swedish newspaper is reporting that an unidentified professional poker player was arrested by authorities this week on 20 very serious charges.

The 23 year year old poker professional was arrested on charges including:

  • 4 blackmailing cases between June and December 2011.

  • 1 robbery in December, 2011

  • 1 aggravated robbery or aggravated extortion in June, 2012.

The report claims that cash generated during games at online poker site PokerStars may be involved and that the defendant may have victimized several Swedish poker professionals. One of the charges accuses the defendant as having used a firearm during the crime, which makes the charge even more serious.

The defendant is sitting in custody while he awaits his initial court appearance.
