Internet poker traffic monitor PokerScout is reporting that online poker traffic jumped 6.5% last week, mainly due to the hype surrounding poker giant PokerStar's 85 billionth hand.
PokerStars saw its weekly traffic surge by 17% for the week as its milestone hand approached. The company's blog reported that there were 250,000 players active on the site when the hand was won.
Half of the top ten poker sites saw traffic gains for the week, with some of the highlights being:
Playtech's iPoker Network, which is seeing 20% more traffic over fellow poker site Party Poker
The Revolution Poker Network's year over year growth of 51%
Winning Poker Network, which is up 200% in terms of traffic

That overall poker traffic is down 14% for the year. Poker giants are also showing lower numbers with PokerStars (-7%), iPoker Network (-33%), and Party Poker (-42%) all taking hits

PKR was down 31%
Merge was down 18%
Ongame was down 20%
