Internet wagering software developer Gamesys has revealed more details on its deal with social media giant Facebook regarding the new gambling app that will allow UK punters to play games of chance for real money.
The company announced that it has taken steps to ensure that persons under the age of 18 will not be able to access the game, which is titled "Bingo Friendzy". Gamesys revealed that players will be required to log in using their email and physical addresses, rather than using just their Facebook account. Player activity will also show up in friends' timelines and posts, but will be restricted from showing up on the news feeds of users that are underage.
A spokesperson for Facebook confirmed that the game was an independent development by Gamesys and that the social networking giant had no official involvement with the game. The company also admitted that the move to allow real money gambling in the UK was motivated by "a mature and very well-regulated gambling market". Facebook also revealed that social media gaming firm Zynga also intends to allow real money gambling on its network next year.
