A report in the National Journal is claiming that Senator Harry Reid of Nevada and Senator Jon Kyl of Arizona are getting close to a bi-partisan deal that would get online poker legalized in the United States.
The report quotes Senator Reid as telling the Tech Daily Dose: “Here’s the issue. Sen. Kyl and I’ve worked very hard. What we need to do is get some Republican support. That hasn’t been forthcoming yet.”
The Senator from Nevada would not say where the deal stands, but said that he wants Kyl and Republican Senator Dean Heller to sell the idea of internet poker legislation to the Republican base.
The report cites the US Justice Department's change of stance on the Wire Act last December as opening the possibility of getting federal legislation approved.
