Indonesia Will Crack Down On Internet Gambling

The Jakarta Post newspaper reported on Tuesday that the Indonesian government is planning to crack down on illegal online gambling by blocking user access to gambling websites.

Indonesia's Communications and Information Technology Ministry will reportedly work to block the users from the websites. Working behind the scenes the country's Social Affairs Ministry and Religious Affairs Ministry are also contributing to the restrictions.

“We will ask the Social Affairs Ministry to assess whether the services provided are indeed online gambling or merely online games. Should that ministry decide that something is an online gambling website, we will ban the URL." Ashwin Sasongko, the Communications and Information Technology Ministry Informatics and Applications Chief said.
