The much anticipated launch of Spain's regulated online gambling market occurred on Wednesday, bringing many major online operators and their games to Spanish punters.
Reports from the country show that the first day of legalized online betting went well, even with a lat minute rule clarification which made all of the operators clear player databases. The new rule will require punters to register new accounts on the legal .es betting sites, as the casino sites are not allowed to transition players to the new site.
Some of the major online operators who were in business on Wednesday were: PokerStars, 888, bwin.party, Ongame, Poker770 and bet365. The Ongame Network had four of its skins operating in the new market, while wagering software developer Microgaming had a presence through LBapuestas. 888poker also launched its Spanish site yesterday.
