Authorities in Malaysia have announced that they are taking drastic measures to limit betting during Euro 2012 by blocking all betting websites for the duration of the tournament.
The move is the result of a joint operation between the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission and the police, and will effectively shut down access to any website that offers betting. The move includes social media sites that offer betting games.
"MCMC will monitor and prevent access to such websites. Once MCMC identifies any website involved in betting activities, such websites will be barred," Gambling and Vice Principal Assistant Director Datuk Abdul Jalil Hassan said.
