Ladbrokes Says Executive Firing Not A Criminal Matter

This story was published more than 11 years ago.

UK based betting firm Ladbrokes has stated to the Telegraph newspaper that the recent firing of an executive was not a criminal matter, but instead an internal procedural matter.

Jon Thompson was Ladbrokes Head of Liabilities until he was fired because of charges of internal misconduct within the major betting company. In his position, Thompson was responsible for overseeing Ladbrokes' betting odds.

Prior to joining Ladbrokes, Thompson worked for online betting site Bodog where he worked in a similar position.

In the story, Ladbrokes would not comment on the specific reasons as to why Thompson was fired, but the paper reported that there have been rumors that the company was concerned about Thompson's close relationship with several of Ladbrokes' largest betting clients.
