Delaware's Online Gambling Bill Moves Ahead

This story was published more than 11 years ago.

A bill that would legalize and regulate online gambling within the state of Delaware made a critical jump forward this week as it passed a Senate committee on Wednesday and will now head for a full Senate vote on June 26.

If the State Senate passes the measure, House Bill 333 will move on to the desk of Governor Jack Markell who has indicated that he will sign the bill into law.

An attempt by the horse racing industry failed to stop the bill from progressing in the committee, even though various racing tracks have been broadcasting race results online for several years.

Great news. It looks like a handful of states are getting their acts together and figuring something out.
