Gambling software giant IGT has announced that it has released an American Idol slot on Double Down's Facebook casino application.
The American Idol slot allows people to spin the reels and features contestants from season 11, along with host Ryan Seacrest. The game gives players the chance to win virtual chips, with 75,000 chips being purchased for one dollar.
IGT had purchased Double Down Interactive for $500 in January with the goal of jumping into the social gaming sector.
Commenting on social gaming, IGT Chief Technical Office and Executive Vice President Chris Satchell said: “Facebook is almost the same business (as casinos). Facebook has real estate and customers, just like the casinos."
"It's a way to introduce casino games to a younger demographic. If we could just get them to understand that it’s fun. Social gaming is a good way to do that, and it’s a good business in its own right."
