Online wagering firm 888 Poker's choice to sponsor the University Poker Championship in Montreal has paid off, as there has been substantial interest shown in the event, organizers say.
The UPC featured 84 competitors from 14 different universities within Quebec. Players qualified for the tournament by playing poker at 888 Poker in the 12 weeks preceding the event.
The event took place at the Playground Poker Club In Montreal, with winner Maxime Gagné from the Université du Québec en Outaouais taking home a prize package that includes a 2012 WSOP entrance.
