Microgame Bails Out Of French Market

Italian online gambling firm Microgame has pulled itself out of the French online gaming market before it even opened its doors for business.

Microgame has not announced a reason for its decision, although last year company CEO Fabrizio D'Aloia told Poker Business that "The French market is not currently profitable and we are looking at the right time to jump in."

The executive's words were in reference to the country's excessive taxation on wagering businesses, a complaint that many online gambling operators in France share.

Mircogame had previously spent a fair amount of money while trying to obtain a French online gaming license and established an office on the venue des Champs Elysees in Paris. The company works with small land based gambling companies that want to introduce players to online gambling.
