Online betting exchange Betfair has announced that it will be sponsoring the European Backgammon Tour.
Backgammon is considered to be the world's oldest board game, and has recently seen a resurgence in popularity. The game has seen more action in both online and live play. It has proven to be extremely popular among poker players, who share a similar skill set with backgammon players due to the game's rewards for understanding of odds and aggressive play.
The European Backgammon Tour will now be known as the Betfair European Backgammon Tour, and will encompass six different events. Players will have the opportunity to win a €650 seat through playing online qualifiers at Betfair.
