The German state of Schleswig Holstein almost had its law legalizing online gambling repealed last week, but survived by the narrowest of margins.
An attempt by Social Democrats to repeal the internet gambling law failed by a single vote. The law has been controversial since it was introduced last year, as it initially passed by a slim margin last September.
The internet gambling law has Schleswig Holstein breaking away from the other fifteen German states which support a restrictive national German internet gambling bill.
Now that the law has survived the repeal attempt, the government can move forward with processing the number of applications for state gambling licenses.
