New PokerStars Site Offers Tax Advantages

Online poker giant PokerStars' new website that operates under Maltese licensing will offer some poker players a big tax break.

The website, Pokerstars.eu will enable players to be covered under European Union policies which state that gambling winnings are non-taxable. This will allow players to potentially save a lot of money should they win at the site.

Players from Finland and Sweden will be among those who benefit the most from the move. Players who collect winning from outside the European Union currently must pay an exorbitant tax rate, sometimes paying up to 50% of their winnings in taxes.

Commenting on the advantage PokerStars Director of Business Development Guy Templer said “Some markets treat European Union-licensed operators differently than other license-holders."

"Offering our online poker on Pokerstars.eu with a Maltese licence provides benefits to players in Sweden and Finland in particular.”
