Online betting exchange Betfair has announced that it will not be taking bets on the French Presidential election, this according to a report by PoliticalBetting.com.
Although Betfair did not qualify the reason for not taking bets, many think that the company is trying to comply with the country's legal requirements on betting exchanges.
The election is scheduled to take place next month, and pits incumbent President Nicolas Sarkozy against Socialist Francois Hollandae. Currently most betting sites have Hollandae as the favorite to win the election. Currently Ladbrokes and William Hill are among the sites taking bets on the election.
