The Belgian government has begun blocking unlicensed operators from reaching residents within the country, blocking big names such as 888, Everest Poker, Chilipoker, and Titan.
The move is the latest attempt by the government to persuade online operators to apply for a Belgian online gaming license. The regulatory body has reported the sites to Internet Service Providers within the country, who are now obligated to prevent access to the sites.
Reportedly escaping this blockade was Bwin.party Digital Entertainment, who has not shown up on the black list. This is apparently due to the fact that the gambling giant has expressed its intention to apply for a license. Others who are opposed to obtaining a license claim that Belgium's stance conflict with European Union law.
