A divisional match between Cyprus Football Association clubs Enosis Neon Paralimni and Ermis Aradippou was suspended due to "unreasonable excessive" betting on the outcome.
The CFA said it took the step to "protect the sport and the teams". The association has called on bookmakers to cancel any and all bets that occurred during the match. The move comes after the CFA has tried to work with bookmakers to share information about betting on matches.
A spokesperson for the CFA said "We repeat our determination to eliminate the problem of potentially fixed matches, while at the same time we issue an appeal to the state for help. The FA cannot on its own eliminate the problem that has plagued world football in recent years."
The CFA announced that it plans on meeting with legislators and the finance ministry to discuss how it can prevent match fixing.
