Online betting site Fortuna has been granted an online betting license by the Polish Ministry of Finance, making it the first bookmaker to legally offer its services to Polish citizens.
In anticipation of the license, Fortuna has built a subscriber base of 20,000 people, and will be launching its website on Wednesday, January 26th. The online betting option joins the retail option, which has been previously available in Poland.
Fortuna Zakłady Bukmacherskie CEO Jan Stefanek said "Offering sports bets via the Internet is a key issue when it comes to the presence of Fortuna on the Polish market. For several years, Fortuna has been successfully providing on-line betting services in the Czech Republic and Slovakia . We expect great interest in this distribution channel among Polish customers. We believe, the Polish players, who from now on will be able to bet online with legal bookmakers will use this service to prevent subjecting themselves to fines for betting with illegal operators."
After news that it was getting an online license in Poland, Fortuna's company stock has risen to its highest levels in over three months.
